A woman charged with stalking Kate McCann apparently recorded her a phone message which posed: "what if I am Madeleine?"

Julia Wandelt, twenty-four, who witnesses stated has persistently declared she was the missing Madeleine McCann, and her co-defendant are on trial accused with pursuing Kate and Gerry McCann from June 2022 and February 2025.

On Monday, the tribunal learned call records and information recovered from phones documented Ms Wandelt persistently demanding Madeleine's mother for a DNA test throughout that period.

'I Am Not Seeking Money'

One voicemail, shared in court, documented Ms Wandelt declaring: "I understand I'm fat and plain like Madeleine had been, but I know what I feel."

While another instance of Ms Wandelt's recordings with Mrs McCann's voicemail stated: "What if there is a tiny probability that I am she? What happens next? Wouldn't that be crucial for you?"

"I don't want money, I maintain a existence here in Poland, I just want to know," she added.

The tribunal was informed that by means of electronic messages, text messages and communications, Ms Wandelt demanded a DNA test, forwarded childhood photos to her phone in a bid to show a resemblance to Mrs McCann's vanished daughter, and stated to have "flashbacks" from a childhood with the McCanns.

Robert Jones, an intelligence analyst with Leicestershire Police who compiled the information, told the court there "seemed to lack any answers" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt additionally communicated with family friends of the McCanns, according to the phone records.

On 9 October 2024, Gerry McCann answered a phone call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, stating she had "the wrong phone."

That day Ms Wandelt recorded a message on Mrs McCann's recording declaring "I won't give up and I intend to demonstrate my point."

The court was informed Mrs Spragg established a relationship via internet with Ms Wandelt before joining her on a visit to the McCanns' property in that area in that winter.

Call logs demonstrated Mrs Spragg had communicated through communication app to Mrs McCann to state the media had characterized Ms Wandelt as "emotionally disturbed" but that she ought to be taken seriously in the period before the trip to that location, the county, in last December.
